San Buenaventura Power Ltd. Co. (SBPL) is a 500 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant located in Mauban, Quezon.  Commencing commercial operations on September 26, 2019, SBPL is a joint venture between MGen and New Growth B.V., a subsidiary of Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO) of Thailand.

SBPL is the first coal-fired power plant in the Philippines to use supercritical, HELE (High Efficiency, Low Emissions) technology that operates at higher steam cycle conditions to produce electricity with less coal. This in line with MGen’s goal to provide large-scale reliable sources of power using the most advanced and efficient technologies at competitive prices.
