MGen supports One for Trees which is an environmental program led by the One Meralco Foundation (OMF). This program contributes to the preservation and protection of Philippine forests through reforestation and agroforestry.
In addition, One for Trees provides sustainable livelihood by training and employing community members as tree farmers and caretakers. They are also trained on agroforestry so as to continue to reap the benefits of healthy and productive forests.

MGen promotes responsible and sustainable environmental stewardship through its operational practices and reforestation projects to protect the welfare of present and future generations.
On top of Environment Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015) certification, MGen leads its environmental program with its carbon sink forestry projects aptly named Kabilin and Handumanan, meaning legacy in Cebuano and Hiligaynon, respectively.
Furthermore, the Company’s sustainable approach has led to implementing initiatives that ensure long-term benefits for the local communities by tapping them to plant endemic species, providing the necessary training support, and incorporating agroforestry into the project via allocation of space for high value crops and fruit bearing trees.
Through this approach, the local communities are provided with a sustainable source of income even after successfully completing the reforestation phase.
MGen extends its groupwide Ban on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) campaign to GBP. Under One Meralco’s Race to Zero Waste program, the campaign aims to reduce generation of landfill wastes by banning the use of single-use plastics, such as plastic shopping bags, wrappers and containers, cutlery, straws, cups, stirrers, and PET water bottles.
